A short while ago I found myself with a surplus of money and I thought to myself “I should sort my mess of hard drives out and consolidate my storage!” so I looked for a Drobo.
This is no small task as an entry level drobo is usually around $700 at most, including shipping.
So I shopped around a little bit and found a fantastic little website that specialises in just storage.

iNeedStorage is well, quite self descriptive, Hard Drives, external cases, RAID, just about anything and everything to do with data storage can be found, and at good prices due to low overhead costs.

I purchased my 2nd Generation Drobo for around $580 delivered by Australia Post, they prefer to use couriers, usually startrack express for the Drobo stuff, but due to issues of my availability to sign for packages I opted for being able to pick it up from the post office.

They have a multitude of contact options listed on their site, phone, email and a live chat, and I can say from personal experience that they’re well informed and willing to answer any questions that you may have about any of the items on their site.

Shopping cart system is excellent and smart, plenty of payment options, the standard credit card and paypal, you can also mail in money.

Even if you’re not going to buy anything, the site is nice to browse and drool over products.

This guide is for those of you who are tired of or are just looking for a way to change the default login screen background.
this guide will use the following tools:

7LogoNChangeR.INC DOWNLOAD
Optional for reducing image size: Paint.NET DOWNLOAD

Step 1:
Find an image online that you want as your logon background, a place to find some nice images would be InterfaceLIFT.com.
this step can be skipped if your image is already stored on your computer.

Step 2:
Download ond extract 7LogoNChangeR.INC to somewhere on your computer if you haven’t already done so.

Step 3:
Run “7LogoNChangeR.INC V3.0.exe” inside the folder you just extracted.

Step 4:
Click “Set Background” to bring up a browser window to find your image.

Step 5:
Find your image in the open window and click “Open”. If the image you selected is a valid image that the program can use it will pop up a dialog telling you that the change was succseful. If the image size is too large it will display an error and you logon screen will not change, in this case follow the guide below to find out how to fix this.

Step 6:
Thats it, all done. You can have a look at this change by clicking the test button in the main screen of the program or by pressing “win+l” to lock the computer.

Using Paint.NET to reduce the file size of your image

Step 1:
Download and Install Paint.NET and open your desired image in it.

Step 2:
Click “File>Save As” and choose file type “JPEG” from the drop down box

Step 3:
Choose where you want to save your image, I don’t recommend saving over the original image as this will produce a very low quality version of the original image.

Step 4:
Click “save” and the image setting box will open. Drag the “quality” slider across until the “preview file size” reads an number between 235kb and 256kb nothing higher as the program will not accept images aver the size of 256kb, and nothing to low as you will lose too much image detail.

Step 5:
Done, Try loading the new image into the logon screen changer program by following the same steps as before.

In this minute and a half video 27 helicopters were found, thats 0.3 per second. if this is anything to go by get ready to see alot more helicopters in the full game when it is released on the 11th of September 2010.

A while ago I got an idea to purchase a Xbox360 wireless controller receiver for my PC so that I would be able to connect up my wireless guitar hero drum kit to the computer to use as a MIDI input in FL Studio(read: Digital Drum Kit) So I began my search to find one.

The Receivers are available in local shops like EB Games, but unfortunately they can only be purchased in a pack with a wireless Xbox360 controller, unfortunately not cheap. So I looked for a second hand one, again no luck. Last week I decided to look online to find one, and find one I did, not only that it was also cheap

The receiver I purchased was not an official one so i had my doubts that it would fully work but as it was so cheap i decided to go ahead and buy it anyway and take my chances. I am happy that I took this chance as today it arrived in the mail in a rather official looking package

Inside the packaging the was the receiver a driver install disc and a sheet of paper detailing the install instructions, rather poorly, but what can be expected from a knock off Chinese product.

I plugged the Receiver into my pc and installed it manually using the official product drivers from Microsoft (never trust a disc sent from china XD).
I tried it out in a few games after i synced my xbox360 controller to see if everything worked correctly, and surprisingly for a knock off everything worked perfect, no input delay, no missing buttons nothing wrong, even the guide button worked in game that support Windows Live and so does the vibration

At this point i remembered why i bought the thing in the first place, so i could use my drums. So i synced them up and with a little help from some MIDI mapping software they where working flawlessly as a MIDI input device for FL studio and any other app that allowed midi input

Overall I was very pleased with this product and so far this has been the only item i have bought online from china that has worked flawlessly
